ROLLERS AND SUPPORTS FOR CONVEYOR BELTS
When talking about a belt conveyor system, the rollers represent a significant portion of the overall investment required for its construction . It is therefore of fundamental importance to make an accurate choice of the rollers to be installed and to verify that they are correct for the use of the belt, made with accurate workmanship and selected materials. Only in this way is it possible to obtain that high quality of the roller that guarantees an adequate operating life for the system, thus avoiding useless and economically damaging plant downtime.
THE CHOICE OF ROLLERS
The choice of roller type must take into account the following factors:
abrasive and corrosive characteristics of the transported material;
environmental and working conditions of the system on which the rollers will be installed;
Abrasive materials such as clay, granite, iron ore, may require the choice of rollers from the heavier series, favoring a larger tube diameter as this determines less contact between the roller surface and the belt itself.
On systems for the transport of corrosive materials such as salts, chemicals, etc., it is necessary to choose rollers that are protected or constructed with appropriate materials that are resistant to these substances over time. The rollers can be made of steel, covered with multiple layers of paint according to specific cycles or covered with rubber or other anti-corrosive material. Or they can be entirely constructed with corrosion-resistant plastic material . Particularly dusty environmental conditions (transport of cement, limestone, ash) require the use of rollers from the series with a sealing system that offers the highest possible degree of protection.

The steel rollers , the most requested by the market, have a shell composed of a tube and bearing heads made integral by pressure. They are mounted on angular or radial ball bearings, pre-lubricated and protected with double labyrinth dust seals.
